CBN’s reboot of the 1980s series. Straightforward Scripture adaptation for elementary ages. PureRated prefers it to most “Christian kids” animation currently on offer.
Faith tag: For Kids
-
The Jesus Storybook Bible
The children’s Bible many grown-ups quietly prefer. David Suchet’s narration is a gift. PureRated’s default baptism and first-listen recommendation.
-
Adventures in Odyssey
Focus on the Family’s audio drama is the American children’s radio classic. Some episodes show their age; the best ones (the Imagination Station arcs, the Whit stories) remain unmatched. PureRated’s long-drive default.
-
Paddington 2
Paddington is framed for theft and the neighborhood has to remember how to be a neighborhood. Paul King’s sequel is widely called one of the best films of the 2010s — not “best kids’ films.” Gentleness as a worldview. PureRated’s house favorite for ages five to ninety.
-
The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe
Andrew Adamson’s adaptation of Lewis is still the most watchable Narnia on film. Battle scenes and the Stone Table earn the PG. PureRated suggests 8+ and a parent for the sacrifice sequence — which is, of course, the reason to watch.
-
Wonder
Stephen Chbosky’s adaptation of R. J. Palacio’s novel is a primer in seeing. PG for bullying themes. Excellent for 8–14 if you are ready to talk about faces, difference, and courage.
-
Coco
Pixar’s visit to Día de Muertos is a film about ancestor and song. Families who prefer not to linger in folk-religious imagery can skip; PureRated includes it because the ethic is honor thy father and mother, loudly and in color.
-
Finding Nemo
Pixar’s finest parent-child film. G-rated, funny, and secretly about anxiety. PureRated keeps it on the littles rail permanently.
-
Bluey
Bluey, Bingo, Bandit, and Chilli invent worlds in the backyard. Ludo Studio’s series is short enough for a weeknight and deep enough for adults who thought they were only supervising. PureRated’s most-recommended title for under-eights — and for exhausted parents.
-
The Wingfeather Saga
Angel Studios’ adaptation of the beloved series. Some creature menace (TV-PG). PureRated recommends it as a next step after Narnia for readers 8–13.
